It’s Her…

Dainty Apricot

Dainty Apricot wasn’t the first swatch I doodled, but she’s what made me fall in love with the paint swatch drawing template.

There was no pressure when making her. It was an uninhibited process. I enjoyed the original sketch so much that I continued to recreate her digitally again and again. She’s become a muse, and a way for me to experiment with different techniques.

A doodle inspired digital portraits, a 3D model, and countless inside jokes. Now I want her to inspire you!

These next few weeks I’m holding a new competition…

The Dainty Apricot
Screenplay Showcase

Participants will submit a screenplay featuring the iconic tree fruit. All entries will be posted right here on my website, Flaminia.me.

I’ll make my favorite into a full online web comic, and the winner will receive a cash prize of $100

  • The deadline for submission is May 30th, 2025.

  • Please format documents in size 12 double spaced Courier New. It doesn’t have to be perfect screenplay format, but here’s a rough idea of what I’m looking for. As long as it’s readable though it’s really no biggie. I just need to understand where scenes are, what’s happening, and who’s speaking.

  • Include your name (or whatever you want to be credited as) and a title for your story.

  • This can be any genre. You can characterize this anthropomorphic fruit anyway you’d like. Stories may have choices with branching paths, but they may also be completely linear.

  • There is no minimum for this. If you want, you can make a one page one apricot script. However, please do not exceed 12 unique characters or 30 pages. I’m going to be producing the winning script, and I can only make so much art.

  • You may include illustrations, and these will be included in your entry page. However, these are not required. I am judging solely based on writing. Ultimately, I’ll be producing the art for the winning entry. Illustrations do not count towards the page limit.

  • This competition is for original work. No trademarked characters (parody is fine). Absolutely NO AI in any capacity. You will be disqualified if your script was generated instead of written.

  • You may include other swatchy characters, but this is not required.

  • Email your finished entries to me.flaminia@flaminia.me (yes that’s my real email). Google doc, docx, or pdf are all acceptable.

  • You can contact me, Flaminia, via email or social media if you have any other questions <3

The Rules

I studied game design in college. I’ve worked on a few projects over the years, but none have gone much further than my files so far (unless you count my paper doll series as a dress up game). One of my biggest challenges as a game designer is that I second guess too much. I try to be perfect, and I end up stuck in the draft phase.

I’ve found that collaboration and giving myself deadlines are the most effective way for me, Flaminia, to finish anything. That’s why I want to bring in an outside writer for this!

This competition is open to anyone, but I’m especially looking forward to seeing what fellow drag artists come up with. Despite being a creative medium, there aren’t many opportunities for us to write completely original work. Most drag shows prioritize remixing music and audio for numbers instead, and I think it’s a waste of our potential as artists.

If this goes well, I’d love to run more creative competitions in the future!
