March Magazina
Mission
Yooohooo~
It’s me, Flaminia Fagiolina. Fashion model, 3D modeler, chanteuse, website haver, editor in chief, and talk show hostess?
Welcome to the third issue of…
If it wasn’t obvious from looking at my whole website, I’m just going off vibes. Stumbling along. This dainty little operation is held together with dreams and silly projects. That being said, it’s the most fun I’ve been having with drag for years. I finally have meaningful creative control, and I’m learning and growing in ways that just aren’t possible in the local scene. It was important to give myself this recurring timer to showcase my work, otherwise I’d be too much of a perfectionista to share anything.
I realized it really doesn’t matter that this project is a little rough around the edges. What matters is that I’m letting myself make mistakes and learning from them.
My first issue was the most impulsive. I wanted something to organize my website better and to glue together all of my disparate projects and thoughts into one digestible package. I made the January issue in two weeks and put it up all “finished”. Then I realized I don’t have to have the same constraints as physical publications. I can update over the course of the month, and that’s what I did for February. I realized there were some other issues though… turns out one super long page with lots of pictures and overlapping elements loads very poorly on mobile devices. Even with anchor links navigation was a mess.
This month I’m tweaking up the format again. The only things on this page are going to be the cover, the index (which will expand over time), and an update article. Everything else will link to other pages. If I write something, it will go to my blog. If I’m uploading pictures they’ll go to my photo pages. Art will go to its respective art page, etc. etc. From now on these magazina pages will just serve as an overview of what’s new for the month and a framing device for the rest of my website. I won’t go back and change the old issues because I’m lazy for posterity.
Is this still a magazine? In a postmodern sense, maybe. It’s got a cover, who cares?
FAGIOLINA
THE DAINTIEST LITTLE MAGAZINA
Future Flaminia here. It’s April now, So only one month in the future. I did actually go back and change previous issues! Kind of a lot actually. I’m in the middle of doing that right now.
